When
we remove your braces, we will begin the retention stage of your treatment.
Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through
with the hard work you've put in so far. Remember to remove your retainer
before brushing, and brush your retainer before placing it back in your
mouth.
Your teeth are dynamic structures that move your entire lifetime. Following
a period of wearing retainers for many hours a day, patients wear their
retainers at night while sleeping. We recommend sleeping with your retainers
in the mouth until the third or fourth decade of life.
Retainers are your best insurance to keep your teeth looking the way
they did when you finished treatment. Lost or broken retainers should
be attended to without delay.
